Music #2 - Evanescence

AMY LYNN LEE <3 well she is pretty much the face of Evanescence anyway.

SONGS TO GET YOU STARTED IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AT ALL
1. Anywhere
2. Your Star
3. Listen To The Rain ( she wrote it when she was choir president in high school )

Those who know me personally are aware of my heavy emotional dependence on music to function daily and my habit of being deeply obsessed with certain women over long periods of time. These two traits are the reason for my undying passion and love for Amy Lee. A beautiful woman who writes and creates beautiful music and was my doorway to discovering Korn and Nirvana, i feel so indebted to her for introducing me to those two bands through her awesome covers.

Yes i am quite aware that she is older than me, lives on the other side of the world, will never know of my existence and shes already married JUST LET ME DREAM FARKKK hahahaha. My respect for Amy Lee only elevates when i remember that she is extremely against using female sexuality to garner attention for her music. In "Everybody's Fool" she sings about her frustration at her sister who listens to the likes of britney spears and christina aguilera who rely on promoting themselves sexually for attention.
She says : "At this point, everybody knows that Britney is fake. The song is not about Britney Spears; it's about a lot of people in this industry. It's so fake, the whole Hollywood thing. 'Look at how perfect I am!' Nobody looks like that. It's all fake and it's really hurting a lot of girls' and women's self images. Where are all the normal people?"

Many fans praise Lee for her refusal to emulate other celebrities by using sex appeal in her music. Damn straight sister.

Another reason why i love this woman so much. She has the most awesome clothing some even Victorian Style. It fits sooooooo perfectly with the Gothic undertones of her music.

On to the albums then

1. Fallen - Their first attempt at producing a gothic rock record certified Platinum 7 times, dammmmnnn

2. The Open Door -  Incorporated more intense and orchestrated classical styles into their already hard rock edged sound.

3. Evanescence (Self Titled) -  Building heavier sounds on top of their already established gothic foundations all the while showing their musical evolution through the use of synthesisers and lots of post production editing.

It was quite a painful 5 years of waiting after that 2nd record but patience paid off. Over many years of looking up on the internet for info about the bands i am obsessed with, i've discovered a few interesting facts about this lady that still to this day instil some kind of connection from me to her even though its probably just stupid to think of something like that.

1. She was choir president ( I was in choir temporarily and i LOVEE singing )
2. She lost a sister when she was younger ( So did i )
3. Her childhood idol was Michael Jackson ( SO WAS MINE r.i.p. Mj )
4. Her favourite movie is Nightmare Before Christmas ( +10 pts )
5. Favourite Johnny Depp film is Edward Scissorhands ( Same here!! )
6. She loves animals ( So do i )
7. Amy's favorite era is the Victorian era because they had such cool clothes. ( I think the women had cool clothes the men on the other hand.... )
8. Amy's favorite holiday is Halloween. ( AWWW YEAHHH )

dat clothing mannnnn

Like her i was always alone at school despite my pretending that i was happy. For me its recognising that singers like Amy Lee and Jonathan Davis of Korn also had pretty shitty teenage starts just like me but seeing what they've been able to achieve through their music gives me a glimmer of hope which is why even though others may think i'm strange for believing i have some kind of connection to these people it explains why i am emotionally attached to these singers and their music

Having released their new album i am now waiting ever so patiently for this beautiful woman to come tour Australia so that at least once before i die i can be part of the crowd celebrating the return of Amy Lynn Lee, a woman whose music has inspired and kept me going for as long as i can remember

  1. Also not trying to be rude (I swear!) but by doing her hair/makeup (being very well groomed basically , shes always wearing a lot of makeup) , having photo-s hopped covers etc she is to a certain extent perpetuating the 'image' problem even further - she cant escape this industry's 'perfect' ideal because she is also buying into it and selling girls an image of herself too - does she wake up looking like she does on the cover of albums and at events? No.

Also - I'm sorry for the loss of your sister , and hopefully life after highschool will be better for you , it is so insignificant in retrospect , like primary school is atm :D

hehe hope you're not offended (although you probably are)

  2. Welllllllll MAYBBBBEEEE SHES USING JUXTAPOSITION AND CONTRAST TO BETTER HIGHLIGHT THIS"IMAGE" ISSUE argh im so offended, nah only slightly but meh everyone has their own opinion man. although in the end its the music thats important not the face. I don't understand people who dismiss someones music just because the band or singer is not good looking enough. im such a hypocrite but really i mean it when i say i loved her music long before i loved her looks. Too bad no one i know wears Victorian style cept for maybe one person :D

and i still have no idea who you are...

............(( , it is so insignificant in retrospect , like primary school is atm :D ))
